A foremost social enterprise entrepreneur, Dr. Gerald Nebeker founded RISE, Inc. in 1987, Acumen, Inc. in 1995 and Orange Socks in 2016, all with the purpose of supporting and advocating for people with disabilities.

With a Ph.D. in Human Services, Management of Nonprofit Organizations, Dr. Nebeker has served on multiple national and local nonprofit boards, including the Family Focused Treatment Association, American Network of Community Options and Resources Foundation, the NEST Council of the American Society on Aging, the Utah Down Syndrome Foundation, the Light of the World Foundation, and several others.

While his work with nonprofit organizations is important, Dr. Nebeker considers the most important parts of his life to be his wonderful wife, Laurel, to whom he has been married for more than 32 years, his eight terrific children, and his church service.
