Kathy Whitaker

Kathy Whitaker has been married to her husband Brad for almost 43 years. Their 5 children and 15 grandchildren are the wind beneath her wings. She says, “I want to be better because of them.” Kathy grew up in Southern California and loves the death and most things related to the water—she is pretty sure she is part fish! Kathy also LOVES ELEPHANTS! She wishes she lived close to a sanctuary and could spend time becoming friends with some! This is on her bucket list! She dislikes traffic and smog. Kathy currently lives in Mapleton, and she says that moving there has been renewing and energizing. She loves living near the mountains, watching clouds and having deer as neighbors (even though they eat her garden & shrubs).

Kathy graduated from Ricks college in Nursing. She worked as a Labor and Delivery nurse for 20 years, and she also helped to start an Orthodontic practice.

Kathy is a ‘foodie’. She has prepared food for campers, conferences, family and special occasions, and she loves a mix of healthy and comfort foods. Kathy will be planning and preparing the food for our Women’s Retreat and we are lucky to have her.

Kathy shares that friends from High School and all through her adult life, along with work in youth and women’s organizations, prepared her for the work of betrayal trauma in SA Lifeline Foundation. Understanding the impact of this addiction in her own family came afterwards. Kathy has served on the SA Lifeline Foundation Board since its beginnings.

Kathy is excited to attend this Retreat because she always learns and is uplifted by others’ experiences. She believes God prepares us for his work and allows us to be instruments in his hands when we are open to letting him be our guide.
