The Coronavirus quarantine has been a world-wide challenge. We are all facing increased uncertainty, boredom, and stress. We may be navigating more screen time, and are likely experiencing more frequent inter-personal conflicts as we spend more time than usual in small spaces with our families. The obstacles inherent to our current circumstances can be a perfect recipe for escaping to addiction or spinning into trauma.
But there is hope, and we are not alone! The daily routines of recovery have never been more important for each one of us. We are so blessed to be a part of a world-wide recovery community. We know better than anyone how to take life one day at a time. We have so many tools available to us, and we want to remind you to USE them!
Here is what’s working for me:
Weekly Meetings! Over 50 meetings are happening each week on Zoom, and we continue to fine-tune our security measures to keep them safe.
Daily Step Work! (Or at least a few days each week) The 12-Step Curriculum makes working the Steps an easy part of my daily routine. At this point, I can’t remember how to work my Steps without it.
Reaching Out! Reaching out to my sponsor and responding to my sponsees has given me valuable opportunities for connection amidst social isolation.
My recovery dailies are helping me keep my life in balance, and helping me frame this unique situation into an opportunity for growth and centering.
With God at our center, and our recovery fellows about us, we have all the tools we need to navigate this, and every other challenge in our lives.
Steven and Rhyll C., the Founders of S.A.Lifeline Foundation, also want to share their strength, hope, and experience. We hope you feel love and encouragement from them and all of us at the Foundation through this short video message.
